Jarrett Bailey of Touchdown Wire put together his ranking of the NFL’s top 32 wide receivers ahead of the 2024 season, which of course, included the Colts’ Michael Pittman.
Despite some inconsistency at the quarterback position during Pittman’s tenure with the Colts, he has continued to produce throughout his career, totaling at least 88 receptions in each of the last three seasons, including 109 in 2023, and eclipsing 1,000 yards in two of the last three years, falling just short with 925 in 2022.
“He shows up every week,”Shane Steichen saidof Pittman. “He is a consistent football player that is going to give it everything he’s got and when the ball is thrown to him, he’s going to go make plays. That’s what he does every week and he’s consistent doing it.
“When we need a big play, he’s the guy that makes it for us usually in the pass game. He’s been doing it here for a while and just very fortunate to have him on this football team.”
Pittman signed a three-year extension earlier this offseason worth $23.3 million per year that will keep him with the Colts through the 2026 season.
Not making the cut on Bailey’s rankings this year were Josh Downs and Adonai Mitchell, who could help form a formidable trio at the receiver position for the Colts. Downs is coming off a very productive rookie season, ranking seventh among all receivers in total yards from the slot, while Mitchell brings a different element to the offense with his 4.34 speed and explosiveness as a route runner.
Now, on to Bailey’s rankings of his top 32 wide receivers entering the 2024 season. For a full breakdown of why Bailey had each receiver ranked where he did, click here.
