Course overview
This course is aimed at anyone with a desire to pursue a career in studio or live sound engineer.
The core knowledge and understanding are assessed through an examination and core skills through a practical employer-set project. This is a Level 3 course which combines skills development with work experience and will equip students to go on to gain an apprenticeship, work within the music production/media or study music production or a media-related course at degree level at university.
You will also gain essential skills transferable to any chosen route after college. Sound engineers work in studios and make recordings of music, speech and sound effects. Live sound engineers control the sound at events like theatre performances, music concerts and festivals.

You must have achieved an appropriate Level 2 vocational qualification and/or 4 GCSE at grade 4 or above including grade 5 for English and Maths.
An exam, a practical employer set project and an events and venues technician assignment.
Progress to university, FD at Middlesbrough College, apprenticeship or employment
Every T Level student will take an industry placement lasting for 45 days, helping you to gain valuable experience in the workplace and allowing employers to meet the new talent in their industry.
Tuition fees are free if you are a UK or home-fee status student aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course.

Music students can benefit from three recording studios connected to five control rooms (two equipped for surround sound), the largest of which can hold an orchestra. The studios are equipped with industry standard equipment and resources.
